Good afternoon OLG parents,
School will be CLOSED tomorrow, January 27, 2015.
At this time we have a TWO- HOUR DELAYED OPENING scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2015. School doors will be open at 10:00 a.m. and students should be in by 10:20. If this changes you will receive an alert and it will also be on the website.
Please stay warm and stay safe.
There will be NO afterschool activities of any kind tomorrow, January 26 - no afterschool program, no SETSS instruction, no Talent Club. The safety of our community is the number one priority. Please ensure that your child is picked up at dismissal. Thank you!
And other snow news
There will be NO AFTERSCHOOL tomorrow, January 26, due to the amount of snow expected by the close of afterschool (6pm). A decision will be made tomorrow regarding Talent Club - watch this space for updates.
Also, keep an eye here regarding any school closings after tomorrow. Remember that if NYC public schools are closed, we will definitely be closed. However, we may close even if they don't ... so come back and check out the update later.
Flyers for Open House were sent home on Tuesday, 1/6. Please pass them along to family, friends and businesses. If you would like more copies please contact the school office.
Paid Dress Down will be every Friday unless notified otherwise.
To follow are the Hot Lunches for January and February. When going to the Hot Lunch form "tab" you will notice that the October lunches are still listed at the top. Ignore that list and follow this list. Forms that are missing are Penne Vodka, Mozzarella Sticks and Rice Ball forms. Due to "website" construction you will need to hand write the Penne Vodka, Mozzarella Sticks and Rice Ball forms at this time. Thank you.

Back to school season coincides with an increase in the viruses that cause fever, vomiting, diarrhea and breathing problems. These include noroviruses ("stomach flu"), influenza and enteroviruses (EV-D68 quickly spreads among children and can cause serious respiratory illness).
Simple actions can help stop viruses from spreading:
Wash hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds.
Cover cough and sneezes with a tissue or your sleeve.
Disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
Avoid sharing eating utensils and cups.
Children with fever, vomiting or diarrhea should stay home until the symptoms are gone (for 24 hours without medication) or until a doctor says it's okay to return.
Get vaccinated against the flu (getting infected with
both EV-D68 and influenza at the same time could lead to severe illness).
NYC DOH now requires influenza vaccination for all Nursery and Pre-K children.
Please return all medical forms issued to your child by a school nurse in September ASAP. All immunizations are mandated by law.
There is still time to sign up for band if you have not already. Please bring your form in as soon as possible. Stop by the office if you need a new form.
Band will be every Thursday unless otherwise notifed. Don't forget to bring your instrument.
Note to all parents and students: Please be respectful of our neighbors!
-There have been some issues regarding our neighbors. We have received calls asking that we refrain from blocking driveways, sitting on steps, dropping garbage on the sidewalk or street, etc. Please be mindful of our community and taking care of the people and places around us.
-The website is running more smoothly now; however, we are aware that some are still having issues. They are being worked on and in some cases may take a little time to resolve. Thank you for your patience with this slightly bumpy start.
Monday, September 8, 2014
The website is mostly up and running. We are aware that there are still glitches and rest assured that every issue you report to us or to the teacher is passed along immediately to the team working on the site.
Please be aware that the website should never replace a student writing down homework in class, as they are given ample time to do. It is essential to build responsibility that they are held accountable for this everyday task.
If you continue to have problems, please go to the top right corner of the website, click on log in/register and click on the newly added HELP button. Type in information as instructed and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Due to technical difficulties (a stubborn copier!) not all classes were able to receive their paper copies of the handbook today. However, you can still view the handbook by going to the "Parents" button on the top of this page, and clicking on "Parent/Student Handbook". Thank you.
Please re-register on this new site!
Parents and students, if you have not registered on this new site olgbk.org, please take a moment and do that today. Use the tab in the upper right hand corner to begin. You need to do this even if you were already registered on the old site. Thank you.
Please be patient as we improve our web presence to be bigger and better. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please give us a call in the office at 718-375-2081!
Please see the events sidebar for this week's schedule and events!
